Introducing VIO Software V3: A Full-Feature EIS Platform for next-generation payloads

VIO Software V3 is the current and forward-looking software branch for Gremsy’s EO/IR payload ecosystem. V3 inherits the EIS capabilities of V2 while expanding into several critical features: **RAW IR streaming, EagleEye, Point Here/Set ROI, runtime bitrate control, optimized web/OTA, and a full suite of improvements for professional deployment.**

1. Why a dedicated “V3” branch?

  • The need for long-range, high-zoom tracking (>30×) is rapidly increasing in industrial, oil & gas, and powerline surveillance.
  • AI/analytics workflows require high-quality IR data (RAW IR, reliable radiometry).
  • Large-scale deployments demand stable OTA updates and user-friendly web settings.

V3 is the technical response to these evolving requirements.

2. Key Technical Highlights of V3

  • Full-feature EIS: The EIS engine is optimized and works more effectively with gimbal firmware (≥7.8.7), reducing vibration at high zoom levels.
  • Tracking up to 240×: A combined EO/IR tracking algorithm helps maintain target lock even at extremely high zoom ratios.
  • RAW IR stream: Supports RAW IR output (F1 at 10 Hz, G1 at 5 Hz) — essential for radiometric analysis and AI model training/evaluation.
  • EagleEye & Point Here / Set ROI: Intuitive operational tools that significantly improve response speed during field missions.
  • Runtime bitrate control: Adjust streaming bitrate on the fly to optimize bandwidth for task-specific needs.
  • Optimized Web/OTA: Payload URLs always point to the latest builds; redesigned web UI; more stable OTA for multi-unit deployments.
  • SDK v3: Supports C++ and Python for system integration, automation, and AI pipelines.

3. Release Architecture & Combo Structure

V3 is delivered as a combo package:

  • VIO Payload App (3.x) + Video Stream App + Web Settings App.

Note: Gremsy Payload SDK, Payload Assistant, and GremsyFlashTools are updated separately and are not included in the .zip package by default.

4. Who should use V3?

  • Users requiring EIS + high-zoom tracking, such as maritime surveillance, oil & gas inspections, powerline monitoring, and border security.
  • Projects that require RAW IR data for radiometric workflows or AI development.
  • Teams deploying multiple units that need stable OTA and remote management.

5. Deployment Notes

  • Verify gimbal firmware compatibility (≥7.8.7 required for many V3 builds).
  • If currently using V1.x, you must upgrade to V1.5.0 before moving to V2/V3.
  • Downgrade from V2/V3 to V1 is not supported — it is a one-way upgrade.
  • Ensure SDK and companion tools match the correct version.

Conclusion

V3 represents a significant leap forward for missions requiring stability, powerful tracking, and high-quality IR data.
